In the mail: Coït, by Chantal Neveu (tr. Angela Carr)—ordered from Bookthug on @looktouch’s recommendation.
A woman saying “yes” to a date with a man is literally insane and ill-advised, and the whole species’ existence counts on them doing it… How do women still go out with guys when you consider the fact that there is no greater threat to women than men? We’re the number one threat to women, globally and historically, we’re the number one cause of injury and mayhem to women; we’re the worst thing that ever happens to them - that’s true! You know what our number one threat is? Heart disease.

The Pink Ink zine for 2013. I illustrated & designed the cover, collaborated to design the innards, and did a lil copyediting. The zine contains the “writings and rantings” of LGBT*Q2Q youth, members of the SOY-funded writing group, Pink Ink (including two of my own poems).
Don’t be impressed just yet: I have much more writing to do than I have done. Though I think about it often, I’m not very good at making time to work on it regularly—there’s always something else I should do first. I do find in my writing drags a lot up from my unconscious and helps me understand what’s going on down there.
These aren’t technical (ie. not muscle-use based on Ekman; just instinctive). Not sure how I did with fear vs. surprise on the top left; top right is a mixed expression; happiness vs. sadness are so practiced for me as to be practically technical; the last is just some kind of smirk—I haven’t studied smiles. #me #paulekman #nomakeup
